Evaluations were made of the effects of sample size and individual vs. group weighing of broiler and broiler breeder stock on the estimation of body weight gain and uniformity. Results indicated that suspected outliers should not be rejected from the sample. Group weighings are satisfactory to determine average body weight, but individual weights are necessary for flock uniformity estimates. Average body weight and flock uniformity estimates were satisfactory when obtained by weighing all birds in a penned-up sample and using a total bird count approximating at least 1% of the flock size.
