The nutritional value of a variety of triticale (CP, 12.90%; CF, 1.50%; EE, 1.40 moisture, 13.20%) was investigated in two experiments. The first experiment included triticale in broiler diets to a level of 40%. The second experiment determined the apparent metabolizable energy (AMEn) of the grain.

Triticale inclusion at the levels tested did not negatively affect the performance of the broilers. The average AMEn was 3246 kcal/kg.

Key Words: Broilers • metabolizable energy • triticale
