Laying hens were sorted into slight, medium, and heavy groups at 25 wk based on either body weight (BW) or egg weight (EW). They remained in these groups for a 10-wk experimental period. There was no difference in egg production among the three groups. Egg weights, feed consumption (FC), and energy intake increased as the 25-wk BW or EW increased.

Key Words: Commercial layer • egg production • egg weight • energy/g egg content
